Eastern Indoor Soccer League

The EISL began play in June 14, 1997 as a regional developmental indoor 
soccer league, in effect the first minor indoor soccer league in the country.
The league consists of 8 teams in two divisions.  Attendance averaged 1,500-6,000 per game for the first season.  Financial difficulties forced the league to fold after two seasons.

Scoring system:  3 points for a win, 2 Shootout win, 1 shootout loss, 0 loss.

Huntsville began the season as the Daytona Beach SpeedKings.

CHAMPIONSHIP:              Lafayette defeated Baton Rouge, 12-9.

                               1998

Before the season, Tupelo moved to Pensacola and Columbus moved to Mississippi.

Semi-Finals:          Lafayette defeated Baton Rouge, 13-5, 14-4
                      Mississippi defeated Huntsville 4-11, 15-13 (SO), 12-4
FINAL:                Lafayette defeated Mississippi, 10-9.

The league folded after the 1998 season.
