United Soccer League

Final Team Standings and Playoff Results

The USL was formed in 1984 during the dissolution of the American Soccer
League II. When the ASL II folded early in 1984, several teams joined the
newly forming United Soccer League. The league bravely attempted to keep
alive outdoor pro soccer in the United States after the demise of the NASL,
but only lasted for two seasons. Many thanks to Kevin Raymond Mitzel
(mitzel@npsl.com), and Martin Angreas Gedra(tallinn@umiacs.UMD.EDU) for
providing this information. The league folded abruptly shortly before
starting the second half of the 1985 season.

Scoring system: 5 points for a win, 2 points for a shootout win,
1 point for a shootout loss, 0 points for a loss.
